Overview of the Hotel's Mosaic Tile Design
Location and General Description
This exquisite hotel exterior, located on Bannan Road, Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, is adorned with mosaic exterior tiles in a luxurious combination of gold and black. These mosaic outdoor tiles contribute to the building's elegant and modern appearance.
Selection of Materials
The Challenge of Choosing Gold Mosaic Exterior Tiles
Gold is a classic color, often associated with luxury and nobility. However, finding durable gold mosaic outdoor tiles for exterior use was challenging. During the design process, different gold materials were compared to find the most suitable option.
Final Material Choices
Golden Glass Mosaic Exterior Tiles
Initially, gold glass mosaic exterior tiles were considered, containing 24K gold leaf sandwiched between two layers of glass. These are widely used in prestigious outdoor architecture but were deemed too expensive for this project.
Electroplated Ceramic Mosaic Tiles
Another option was electroplated ceramic mosaic outdoor tiles. However, these were rejected due to the tendency of the gold color to fade over time.
Gold Stainless Steel Mosaic Exterior Tiles
The final choice was gold stainless steel mosaic exterior tiles with protective coating, offering durability and a lasting rich gold color.
For the black sections, glass mosaic exterior tiles were selected to complement the design.
Mosaic Tile Patterns and Design
Integration of Gold and Black Mosaic Exterior Tiles
The hotel’s facade features intricate patterns created by combining gold and black mosaic exterior tiles. The black tiles form the base, while the gold tiles outline and highlight the designs, creating a striking visual effect.
Key Design Elements
Flame Flower Patterns
The main design element is a flame flower pattern that adorns the exterior walls of each floor. These patterns are strategically placed between windows, with gold mosaic exterior tiles used for the designs and black for the background.
Twill Patterns
Another prominent design is the twill pattern, located on the left side of the hotel’s main entrance and on the curved surface at the back left side of the building. These patterns echo the design on the front facade, using mosaic outdoor tiles.
Branch Patterns
Additionally, branch patterns are featured on blank areas of the first floor, adding a natural element to the design and making full use of the versatility of mosaic outdoor tiles.
